From January to April 2022 we are organizing the second edition of the Proefdiervrij Venture Challenge. Through workshops by experts and coaching we will help you to bring your animal free innovation to the market. Join us and turn your innovation into a business.
From a scientific innovation to a business
Research models such as mini-intestines grown in a culture dish or simulated human brains: it is the science of the future. But to ensure that every research lab and company will use these animal-free models, the next step is necessary. That is why we are organizing the second edition of the Proefdiervrij Venture Challenge at the beginning of 2022. This is a program of 10 to 12 weeks, in which an animal-free scientific breakthrough in the life sciences, is converted into a sustainable business case.
During the Proefdiervrij Venture Challenge you will be guided in setting up a venture plan. With the help of professionals, you will learn various skills that are necessary to set up or expand your business. At the end of the competition, the team with the best business plan will win a nice cash prize! This allows the winning participants to further develop their animal-free innovation and startup.

This is how you participate
National or international scientists based in the Netherlands can participate in the Proefdiervrij Venture Challenge in teams of min. 3 and max. 5 people.

En de winner of 2021 is… Avatar zoo!
Four enthusiastic teams participated in the very first edition of the Proefdiervrij Venture Challenge. Avatar Zoo was the winner of 2021 and received a nice cash prize of €25.000,- to further develop their innovation and build their startup. Avator Zoo wants to make it possible that not laboratory animals, but virtual 3D models, so-called ‘avatars’, are used for learning and training purposes in education.
